Merry Christmas! It's the most wonderful time of year.

While this may be the sentiment for many of us, for some it's a lonely, stressful, and overwhelming time of year, and it's not the most wonderful time of year. I hope that no matter which group you're in that you'll find some joy in the holiday season.

If I'm totally honest, there were days during the past year where I felt overwhelmed, and stressed too. Now as I reflect back, I can see that out of those times something wonderful was born.

Here are a few things that I did on a regular basis that helped me get through those days. Maybe they'll help you too.

Take time for yourself - You can’t take care of others if you don’t first take care of yourself! If you have time off from work this month, take the time to do something for yourself that.you love to do.

Keep things in perspective - It’s not about perfection, it’s about doing your best. Don’t worry if you can’t meet every obligation, purchase or wrap the perfect gift - rather focus on being present. As a coach once told me… "Do your best, and forget the rest."

Do something good for others - Drop in on neighbours or those who may be suffering from loneliness during this time of year, it will make them and you feel better. A little kindness can go a long way.

Practice gratitude… even when things don't go as planned - You’ll enjoy the holiday season more, even when you're stressed and things just aren't the way you'd like.

I'll be taking time over the next couple of weeks to spend with my family. We will all be together for the first time in many years as our youngest son has returned from his adventures in Australia. Our daughter and her family will be here to join the rest of us to celebrate Christmas. It's a special time of year for us!.

If you plan on taking some time off to celebrate, and no matter how you celebrate, may you and your family find great joy and happiness at Christmas, and in the year to come.

Cheers, Rolf
